The horses are enjoying their new stable, the farmer is getting his tractor ready and the engineering train is on its way back to the depot
The history of the Elmleigh Light Railway began when my son Jack was born in November 1998. For his first Christmas present he was bought an LGB starter set with the North Pole Express. Obviously he had to be shown how to play with it! So at the tender age of one month old Jack became the proud owner of a train set that all the other male members of the family enjoyed playing with. With the passing of time he was bought a further starter set and both his Grandfather and myself began amassing our own collection of LGB rolling stock.

In 2002 we moved to a 1920's house right by Havant station which has a large rear garden. This provided a blank canvas in which we could build the Elmleigh Light Railway.

Phase one included the building of a water feature and single line layout ending with two reverse loops. This was built on the left hand side of the garden and this enabled me to test the necessary circuits etc.

Phase two entailed the cutting out of the garden path, the construction of a cutting and raised area and the extension of the line.

Phase three which will happen this year entails a new high level end to end line and more automation for the original line with the capacity to run two engines.

I love Welsh Narrow Gauge Railways and was lucky to have a mother who grew up in Llandudno. Thus every year we holidayed in North Wales. My line is based on the Welsh Narrow Gauge.

I hope you enjoy this site. Please please email me and let me know where you're from. I would love to hear from you.
Site Update:

For the first time in ages it seems that I can update the site properly. Whilst I don't have the time now...I will soon return and sort the site into a better order. Thanks for your patience.

This photo shows the building of the Little Blackcurrant Line. It is only about 40' long but has allowed me to run more loco's.
This photo shows my StLB Electric loco, which I received for my 40th birthday! I construced a fake catenery from wood, door knobs and photo frame wire!!
This shows the other end of the line. This line is controlled by a Reversing Unit. It has a rather steep gradiant but it works well and adds a further dimension to the garden.
