The Great American Outboard Race is kneel-down outboard's version of the Daytona 500. Held every year in late August, the event, also known as the Dayton Record Runs, sees hundreds of entries from all over the midwest and east coast. This event, includes record competition courses for all American Power Boat Association (APBA) Stock Outboard and Modified Outboard racing hydroplanes and runabouts. As outboard counterparts to such larger craft as the Miss Budweiser, these nine and ten foot-long race boats utilize smaller marine outboards to power racing boats in the 50-100 mile-per-hour range. The Great American Outboard Race truly is APBA's grand event for record setting outboard races.
In 2006, the Great American Outboard Race will host the APBA Stock, Modified and J Categories for competition record runs. These categories will compete on surveyed courses for World Records. Come see the exitement.
