Hemel Hempsteads historic 'Old Town' can trace it's history back to the time of the Romans. Once a thriving Market town, the High Streets fame now lies in it's picturesque houses, and it's strong association with Henry VIII, who gave the town it's Royal Charter. In more recent times the High Street has become a place of eateries, Pubs and Antique shops. With some buildings that are almost 500 years old, the High Street has it's fair share of ghostly tales from throughout the centuries. Are there still entities from the High Streets long and varied history that refuse to leave, even after death? Or are the only spirits found served in the pubs and restaurants?

With a fascination in the Paranormal, and an Interest in the High Streets history, I hope to uncover some of the tales and stories of the Old Towns Ghostly residents. However,I will be looking for more than just storytelling. Where possible I will look for evidence that the stories and sightings have some degree of truth. I am not out to prove the existence of ghosts (in fact I am quite a sceptic by nature) but I do believe that some things and events defy reasoning, and with so many tales abound about the Old Town and it's ghostly reputation,there must be more to it than meets the eye(s)!

I am currently in the process of collecting information for the purpose of the website, with a view to making a printed publication (in time) if there is enough material available. If you have any information, stories or pictures, or are aware of any particular "Old Tales" then please contact me.
