Well, once again my old faithful
craftmobile and I were on the road.
This time to Leamington,
the Tomato Capitol of Canada,
home of Heinz ketchup,
and a very special friend
and Circle member, Doreen.
I arrived around noon on Thursday, and after I took care of Mother Nature's urgent call, I unloaded my stuff into this very beautiful bedroom. Doreen said she had some homemade soup for us for lunch, and that her friend Lucille was so anxious to meet me that she would be joining us.

By this time we had to go back
to Doreens to start getting
supper ready for Lucille and her
other friend Liz. The arrived
and we had a wonderful Italian
supper of spaghetti, salad,
French garlic bread and wine.
It was so delicious. I can not
remember ever having such a good
meal and such excellent company.
Later, Doreens other friend
Ramone arrived, and we laughed
and talked (and yes drank)
until we were silly. They
wanted to play a game, so
Doreen came up with this
dictionary game. You close
your eyes, open to a page
and point to a word. You
pronounce the word, spell
it, and the others have to
guess the definition.
Well after a while we got
bored with that. Needed too
much brain power.
By this time it was getting late and I was bushed. I had been up since 6:30 and had driven four hours to get there. So we called it a night and Doreen and I hit the sack.
The next day Doreen took me to this fabulous place called Colosantis. It has fresh and artificial flowers and plants, all kinds of garden stuff, a craft area, and of course tons of Christmas decorations of a types imaginable. Of course, I never go to any city without visiting the local Wal-Mart and here is a pic to prove it. I got more fabric and other odds and ends for my Father Christmas orders. And Doreen decided she wanted to buy a printer (she did not have one) so she could print out pictures and emails.

We went home and I started to set up the printer and install the software. Meanwhile she talked to Lucille who invited us for supper. She wanted me to meet George who will be a golf host for Darryl when we go down in July for the reunion. And here is a pic of George.

Back to the printer! Well, that thing just did not want to install. It would get so far, and then just lock up. We were getting extremely frustrated. But, it was time to go to George and Lucilles. So we just left it.

Dinner at George and Lucilles was absolutely fabulous. BBQ steak (that Doreen had brought; rice, salad and pickled asparagus with tapioca for desert and of course more wine. The folks are just such nice folks and welcomed me as if I was an old friend too. I had such a great time there.

We did not stay late as we were tired from all our shopping. So back to Doreens where I tackled the printer again! Still no luck. She then called her niece to come over to see if she could help. She had no luck either. So Doreen decided to take it back and go elsewhere and buy something different.
My last day, we kinda took it easy. Doreen was making breakfast of bacon and eggs and put in almost the last of her bread. When all of a sudden, she said Oh no! I have burned the toast! Here is another pic. All she had left was one slice and the heel, so she toasted them, and that was breakfast. After breakfast we packed up my car then just sat and talked till it was time for me to leave.
I had such a wonderful time.
Doreen is the most wonderful person;
she made me feel so welcome.
And her friends are special too,
the made me feel like we had known
each other forever.
Soon after she arrived and we had a wonderful lunch. I had brought one of my Father Christmases to mail out, and they were so eager to see him, that I actually undid the package. Well as it turns out Doreen and Lucille make them too! Here is a pic of one of Doreens. Lucille said she had several and wanted me to see them, so off we went to Lucilles house to see her Father Christmases. She also had some extra porcelain head and hand sets that she sold to me for my work.
